Long time no see; ... well writing you. Anyway, I'm back! So many things are happening here and I don't know what to tell you first. Let me see... YES!!! New art compositions came to ALOHA RAG New York. These pieces are composed by three young artisits named DEARRAINDROP who are future master artists and will appear in a publication entitled "The REVISIONARIES". They have designed many collage compositions with vivid colors. In addition, these pieces below send us "Fresh Energy". I purchased 10 pcs of their colleection and displayed them here. Please come and visit ALOHA RAG New York and engulf their Artful Spirit with us!
It's cloudy in NY. I bought summer clothes but have not had the chance to wear them.
I fell in love and bought a painting without thinking when I saw it at Art Basel Miami Beach this February. I picked up the painting at the Jack the Pelican gallery in Brooklyn.
I haven't seen it since February and I was surprised to see it. I thought it was smaller. It has fine detail yet is very powerful. This painting is based on aluminum, coated with enamel and then etched with a lot of messages in many fonts. This painting was created by Chicago artist, Michael Genovese. He uses words a lot in his work. Today, I hung it in my shop, and the aluminum is shiny and looks great with the reflection of the light. It is nice! I enjoy looking at it. If you have a chance, please come and see this delicate, but powerful work!
The weather keeps changing in New York. I can't be sure if it's going to be warm or cold today. The weather forecast calls for rain today. This constantly changing weather is annoying.
I decided to go shopping to improve my mood, but I 'm afraid I might buy too much. I did buy six items: a pair of sweat pants, two pairs of Golden Goose chinos, two Ryle & Scott polo shirts, and a pair of Golden Goose sandals. In the store, the sweats looked typical, but fit very well when I tried them on. The Golden Goose chinos are made from superior fabric and are well designed. The Golden Goose sandals are designed by K. JACQUES. I'll wear them this summer. The Golden Goose line sells very well in my store. Finally, I bought two Ryle & Scott polo shirts which I had wanted for a long time. They are only available in my N.Y. store in the U.S.
Hopefully this guilty pleasure of shopping will cheer me up. I'm really sick of winter clothes because I have not gone back to Hawaii since January. I'm already enjoying wearing my new purchases.
The good weather here continues from yesterday. Today I was interviewed by the magazine, 'SPORTSWEAR'. Whenever I am interviewed, I'm slightly embarrassed. The interview should be published in the May issue.
I saw a new Keith Haring mural being painted in my neighborhood. It's exciting to see murals on buildings.
I've been shopping....again.... I bought a pair of simple White Leather Converse sneakers from their website. While I was in NY, I went to four different stores but none of them had my size. I was ready to give up on them but ended up finding them on their website! Without any hesitation, I clicked "checkout!" Is it just me, or does everyone get happy and excited when their order arrives!? But if you aren't careful, it's dangerously addicting!! Why white sneakers!? Well, the truth is...I missed out buying them!! To make matters worse, I missed out on the ones we had in our store!! Yep, I'm talking about the Common Project White Enamel Hi-Top Sneakers. I didn't think they would sell out while I was in Paris and NY on our buying trip....They didn't sell out this quickly for the Spring/Summer.... Who would've thought they'd be gone this fast??? Still, I couldn't give up so easily and contacted Common Project to see if they would accept additional orders. If you can't tell already, I REALLY REALLY want them. Don't worry, the additional order isn't just for me, they're for all of you who missed out on purchasing a pair! It'll probably take about two months so please be patient....And other than the White Patent leather, we're looking into other colors as well... We'll keep you posted!
I recently posted some pics about graffiti artwork I saw in NY and asked if anyone knew the artist. Well, thanks to our Aloha Rag web designer and photographer M, I found out who that NY artist is! Apparently I'm not the only one curious about the artist and he is already causing quite a commotion....I'm attaching a link so please check it out! By the way, the artist's name is Judith Supine! Well, here's the link and a photo of my recent purchase!!
